ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Anja Oliver and I am a self-taught artist of botanical prints and designs.
Although originally from Germany, I have always had itchy feet and indulged my passion for travel and languages with spells in France and Belgium. However, I have now settled in Northern Ireland for the past 30 years.
The need to create has accompanied me all my life and although I was not brave enough to choose art as a career, I only ever felt truly happy when I could draw, paint or potter. After many years of trying different mediums and attending various classes, I came across printing and it immediately felt like the right fit. I have done drypoint, photo intaglio, collagraph, lino and salt etch printing but particularly enjoyed gel printing for its experimental scope and surprising effects.
Inspired by the beautiful Irish landscape, fauna and flora I create multi-layered botanical monoprints and feel I have truly come home.
